With all the moving and a few trips planned, I can already tell these next few months are going to pass by in the blink of an eye. Despite the busyness, I can't help but look forward to pool weather and the fun it brings. Here’s to a great week, mamas! ☀️

WOMEN’S HEALTH

An overlooked diagnosis in women.

Despite its prevalence, ADHD in women frequently goes undiagnosed, leading to challenges that often remain unaddressed. Here are some insights and resources to help shed light on this important issue:

UNVIELING THE MASKED SYMPTOMS 🔍 ADHD affects about 5% of all American adults, yet less than 20% are aware they have it. Women with ADHD, in particular, often live undiagnosed. Some commonly overlooked symptoms include:

  • Organization and time management problems

  • Hard-core forgetfulness

  • Easily distracted by… everything

  • Relationship struggles

  • Chronic restlessness

  • Impulsive-decision making

  • Feeling overwhelmed

☝️Did you know…

Symptoms develop in childhood, but the signs are often missed - Girls with ADHD may exhibit more inattentiveness than hyperactivity, leading to under-recognition of the disorder.

PARENTING

Love languages are for kids, too.

Have you ever noticed how your little one hugs you tight or beams joyfully when you praise them? That's their love language speaking! Whether cuddling (physical touch), heartfelt compliments (words of affirmation), or wanting to spend quality time together, each child has their love language.

Let’s identify your child’s love language

❤️ Physical Touch: A primary love language for many children, fostering feelings of love and security, but parents need to respect each child's comfort level, especially considering factors like special needs, and to be mindful not to impose their love language on their children. 🫂

❤️ Words of Affirmation: Offering praise and loving words 🗣️, such as a note in their lunchbox or verbal encouragement, can deeply resonate and make them feel valued, with communicating at their eye level enhancing the impact.

❤️ Acts of Service: Expressing affection through proactive chores or assistance—such as doing tasks without being asked or helping with everyday activities—is deeply meaningful, and acknowledging their efforts with positive reinforcement fosters their sense of love and thoughtfulness within the family dynamic.

❤️ Gifts: Whether it's a present on a special occasion or a small gesture like a flower or handwritten note—makes them feel cherished and cared for, reinforcing their sense of love and connection. 🎁

❤️ Quality Time: For children who value "quality time," uninterrupted moments spent together—whether it's sharing activities, outings, or simply being present—foster trust and deepen the parent-child bond, creating meaningful connections that endure over time.

Now, the fun part! 🎥👨‍👩‍👧

Connecting with your little one using their love language! Whether it's planning a cozy movie night (quality time), surprising them with a small gift (gifts), or simply telling them how proud you are (words of affirmation), there are endless ways to show love. Find even more ways in this article by Big Life Journal.

But why does it matter?

Understanding your child's love language isn't just about warm fuzzies—it's crucial for their development. When kids feel loved and secure, they're more confident to explore the world and build relationships. Plus, knowing their love language can be a lifesaver during tough times, giving you powerful tools to uplift their spirits.

Be Bold. With Wallpaper!

I’m in the process of moving at the moment and while the house is in great shape, there are a few rooms I’d like to add personality to. This leads me to our design topic of the week: wallpaper! It’s an easy way to make a room pop but it can also make the room take a left turn into a design disaster. We are here to break down the trends for the year to steer you (and me!) in the right direction.

  • Bold Ceiling Wallpaper: Apartment Therapy says adding wallpaper to the “fifth wall” can make a small space look bigger.

  • Bathroom Wallpaper: Ideal Home is on board with bold prints in the bathroom but make sure you protect against moisture with a coat of decorator’s varnish.

  • Mural Designs: This idea brought to us by The Spruce is one I haven’t seen yet. Instead of commissioning an artist for a landscape mural, simply apply a wallpaper mural.

Faux Textures: Woman and Home suggests adding a fabric wall covering is a much more budget-friendly option to make homes look more expensive.
